This year has flown by and it's already nearly July and Cambridge Open Studios! This year 470 artists are opening up their studios throughout Cambridgeshire to show visitors their work. We're so lucky in Cambridge that the organisation is growing every year, and it is a lovely event to meet artists in the spaces that they create their work. There will be lots of new wire drawings at my studios as well as some brand new greetings cards! It would be lovely to see you on either of the first two weekends of July, here is the Facebook event, please do invite friends to the Facebook event, as you plan your tour of artists studios!

I'm so pleased to be taking part in a brand new contemporary design & craft fair this November - Histon Handmade. Fifteen artists & designers will be showing their work on Saturday 26th November 2016 from 12-8pm at St Andrew’s Centre, School Hill, Histon, Cambridge CB24 9JE.
I've been busy working towards sending a parcel full of Wire Decorations to Walford Mill Crafts in Dorset. It was really lovely to be contacted by Krishula about my work back in September, since then I've been twisting wire to make gifts for the gallery shop. Their exhibition 'Christmas At The Mill' aims to showcase the best of British Craft providing a refreshing alternative to the high street by stocking high quality, handmade items, made by people who love what they do. I'm so pleased to be amongst a wonderful selection of British makers.
The exhibition will run from the 12th of November to the 8th of January. If you're local watch out for their two special Christmas event days! It's been a busy couple of weekends! After setting up our artwork at Jo's lovely house Jo, Daniela, Janet opened the doors and greeted over 650 visitors over two weekends. It was lovely to meet new people who chose our work to visit from the hundreds of studios available in the yellow booklet, and to catch up with visitors who had seen our work in previous Open Studios events. It was also good to chat to art students and their parents, and to meet fellow Open Studios artists who had already held their show in previous weekends. And it's always fab when friends and family pop in to support us and see what we've been up to. Brand new for the show were my 'Wire Drawings' of Birds. These were a great success! Each one is made from one or two long lengths of silver wire bent into just the right shape for the bird. I really enjoyed working on the shapes and details of the birds and putting them in a simple setting. When I was at sixth form in Cambridge I used to visit artists studios myself with my parents and friends and found it really inspiring to meet skilled artists who living so close to home. When I moved back to Cambridge in 2008 after studying, I didn't have many plans, except to get a job, pay off my Uni overdraft and do Open Studios the next July, I nervously signed up and started creating work. All new members are invited to meet up to chat about tips on holding your own open studios, and it was at this meet up I met Jo Tunmer who was also showing for the first time - I'm so glad I did! I've now shown at her house and studio, 3 times out of the 6 times Ive done Open Studios, her work is fantastic and she is great fun to work with! This year we chose to show with Daniela and Janet too, it was great organising the show and putting up the displays together.
Daniela Stief and her lovely pots. Janet Powell's stunning jewellery, that I had to work so hard to resist spending all my profits on! If you're an artist thinking about doing Open Studios yourself, I'd completely recommend it. Sign up in December to be a member of the group then you've got a few weeks to plan where you're going to hold the event. As part of Cambridge Open Studios, I am showing my work with three other artists at Jo Tunmer's lovely house at 59 Highworth Avenue, Cambridge, CB4 2BQ on Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th or on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July, between 11am and 6pm. My framed 'wire drawings' including a heron, a pair of curlews, a nuthatch and some long tailed tits: and brand new wire decorations to hang up in your home: There will be four of us showing at the same address; Jo Tunmer's lovely oil paintings and solar plate prints, Janet Powell's stunning silver jewellery and Daniela Stief fabulous ceramics, lots to see!Two brand new wire decoration designs ready for Cambridge Showcase tomorrow. #snowflake and #robinHere is the lovely Cambridge Showcase lot when we met up last week to plan the event on Monday 23rd November. I'm holding one of my framed wire dogs. After a great day seeing lots of beautiful crafts at #madelondon, I'm back at my desk getting work ready to be framed for Cambridge ShowcaseAfter an exciting summer off I'm back at my desk making!
